Dexter Cattle

Dexter Cattle are small cattle of Irish origin.

They are “beefy little milkers”, which means
they are pretty versatile and popular with hobby farmers who want a friendly cow that won’t tower over the children and can be handled without needing a truck or a cattle prod

bruce Watermark is officially described as Watermark Dexter Stud in the records of the Dexter Association of Australia. That sounds pretty fancy, but we do have some pure-bred cows and one very promising little bull named Watermark Bounty. He was born in 2006,  which was a ‘B’ year, so all Dexters registered that year had to have names starting with ‘B’.  2008, of course, is a ‘D’ year and we have now added Dorabella and Diana. (‘X’ and ‘Z’ presented challenges to breeders.)

Yarra Storm, from neighbour Helen Collie’s farm, was here on duty for nearly twelve months and has done his stuff by our girls, and we have some beautiful new calves to entertain visitors.

You can now order a side of Watermark Dexter from us. This breed make excellent eating and, because they're small animals, they won't overwhelm a domestic freezer. They are professionally killed at Dardanup Butchering Company and can be cut and packaged to your requirements. While you're here, you can 'meet the meat'! (or not...- as you prefer)
